Heb 7:15-16  And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears,  (16)  one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. Levitical priests were ordained only if they could prove their ancestry from Levi, and must be replaced at death by another of the same line. By contrast, Jesus holds the Melchizedek priesthood forever because he possesses an indestructible life. It is not merely endless; by its very nature it cannot be ended! How precious it is to us that we can build an everlasting relationship with Lord Jesus Christ, our Great High Priest, who loves us, dies & lives for us and reconciles us to God!

Tit 1:1  Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness– As servant and apostle, Paul concerns the faith of God’s elect and he knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness. God was using Paul to call out a people for Himself and to teach them the truth which is conducive to godly living. It highlights the salvation of a believer is a process. It begins with justification (which is an one-off event when the believer first believed), followed by sanctification (which is a continuous process) and then finally glorification (which is the consummation of the process). The Knowledge of God taught by the Spirit leads us to a devotion to God (which is a fruit of worship and communion) as well as an attitude of obedience being displayed in…

Joh 13:1  Before the Passover Festival, Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. The day before the crucifixion, the Lord Jesus knew that the time had come for Him to die, to rise again, and to go back to heaven. First and foremost, Jesus loved His Father and, in humility, obeyed Him unto death, in order that God’s justice concerning salvation is upheld. He also loved His own, that is, those who were true elected believers, to an infinite degree. His love for us is from the eternity past, and shall continue throughout eternity.

Isa 66:1-2  This is what the LORD says: Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool. Where could you possibly build a house for me? And where would my resting place be?  (2)  My hand made all these things, and so they all came into being. This is the LORD’s declaration. I will look favorably on this kind of person: one who is humble, submissive in spirit, and trembles at my word. We need to remind ourselves that He is the universal Creator and Owner, enthroned in heaven, with the earth as His footstool. The dwelling place He desires is the heart of a person who is humble and contrite, and who trembles at His word.

1Pe 5:10  And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. True victory in persecution is to see God behind the scenes working out His wonderful purposes. Peter gives us a four-fold encouragement: No matter what our trials, Peter reminds us that He is the God of all grace. His dealings with us are not based on what we deserve, but on His thoughts of love to us. No matter how fierce our testing, we can always be thankful we are not in hell where we ought to be. He has called us to His eternal glory. This enables us to look beyond the sufferings of this life to the time when we shall be with the Savior and be like Him forever. Just think of…

Jas 4:6  But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” We are not left to deal with the lusts of the flesh in our own strength. By His grace, more strength is given to us whenever it is needed. He gives more grace when the burdens grow greater. He sends more strength when the labors increase. He adds His mercy to added affliction. He adds His multiplied peace to multiplied trials. God resists the proud, but He cannot resist the broken and contrite spirit. Grace is promised to the humble, not the proud.

Php 2:12-13  Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed–not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence–continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,  (13)  for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Salvation is evidenced through the personal victory of the believers and the unity of the church. This outworking of the spiritual reality is to be done “with fear and trembling,” i.e. a work that is energized and animated through the fear of the Lord. God works in us so that we could do His good pleasure and accomplish His good purpose. Both divine enablement and human responsibility are involved in getting God’s work done. We become partners with God, laboring together with Him. God causes His own both willing and desirous to do His work.

Gen 50:20  You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. Joseph’s commitment of faith to the Lord had been obvious throughout his life and his words at this point were reminiscent of his response to those who thought he could interpret their dreams. He had told them then as he repeated now, “Don’t look to me. Look to Him.” No one who knew Joseph could ever fail to recognize that he did not trust his own abilities and neither did he hold himself in unrealistically high regard. He knew from whence his strength came and he knew in whom he alone was secure.

Deu 7:11-12  Therefore, take care to follow the commands, decrees and laws I give you today.  (12)  If you pay attention to these laws and are careful to follow them, then the LORD your God will keep his covenant of love with you, as he swore to your ancestors. If the nation of Israel is obedient to the Lord she will experience His covenantal love. Though God will not abandon the covenant because of His promises to the patriarchs, the people could forfeit the blessings of the covenant through their own disobedience. Likewise, the same is true to those under the New Covenant.

Joh 15:11  I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. Jesus had great joy in pleasing His Father by living a fruitful life. The purpose of His teaching is to give man an abundant life, not a joyless existence. The commands for His disciples to obey are for their joy. A consecrated life is a joyous and satisfied life as well as God-glorifying life.
