Rom 16:17-18 CSB  Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who create divisions and obstacles contrary to the teaching that you learned. Avoid them,  (18)  because such people do not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites. They deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting with smooth talk and flattering words. Paul could not resist giving a final word of warning that they watch out for spiritual enemies: those who are divisive and seek to hinder the Lord’s work in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned). Believers are to keep away from such false teachers, who were not serving Christ, but were slaves to their own appetites. They were selfish gluttons. The problem, however, was that by smooth talk and flattery they deceived the minds of naive people.

Col 1:21-22  Once you were alienated and hostile in your minds expressed in your evil actions.  (22)  But now he has reconciled you by his physical body through his death, to present you holy, faultless, and blameless before him— Reconciliation is necessary because people are alienated (“cut off, estranged”) from life and God. Rom 8:17  Now if we are children, then we are heirs–heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. The prerequisite of living a life for God as His children in His presence involves the death of Christ to be heir of the inheritance in the Kingdom of God. We are co-heir with Christ’s inheritance if we suffer with Him and hence rise up with Him on His return. As God-man, Lord Jesus is the mediator, who reconciles us to God. His death appeases God’s wrath and fixes our natural enmity towards God. His work on the Cross brings about peace with God, allowing God to be glorified, as well as, restoring the goodness, beauty, order and harmony of God’s creation.

Mat 5:13-16 “You are the salt of the Earth. But if salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? Its No longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. (14) “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. (15) Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. (16) In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your father in heaven.” All that God is working in us, he wants to work out, in the world. Too often our Christian gatherings and activities are wrongly introspective. God’s heart is for the lost world. and he wants to turn us loose in it as people who…
