Psa 16:9-10 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, (10) because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay. Christ, the Lord, is preserved by God, given His inheritance, not moved or shaken, secured from death, and ushered into the presence of the Father where there is fullness of joy. Rom 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. The purpose of God is to enable a diverse people (of different ethics origin, ages, gender, upbringing) to live peacefully together in the body of Christ. “Hope, joy, and peace” are ingredients needed in great measure by those whose commitment is to edifying those who are locked in conflict. These are the supernatural fruits ensued from the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of individuals, through faith and love.

Rom 14:17-18 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval. Personal preferences (e.g. style of worship: Hill songs vs. Old hymns or personal choice of eschatology) are not that important and they are not the sum and substance of the kingdom of God. Only upright living, peace and joy in the sphere of the Holy Spirit are essentials of Christian fellowship and harmony. The Christian who serves Christ in the way of love, righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit is pleasing to God and approved by men.

Psa 91:1-2 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. (2) I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Life is perplexing. While a triumphant life is assured ensuing from God’s promises to guard and guide us through the evils of this life, it is also troubling at the same time due to the invariable presence of suffering and uncertainties. The fact that our victory in this world is so partial forces us to look more deeply at Psalm 91. God’s purpose for giving us both prosperity and adversity is in order that we fear Him.
