Rom 15:13 CSB  Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. So Paul closes this section with a gracious benediction, praying that the God who gives good hope through grace will fill the saints with all joy and peace as they believe on Him. Perhaps he is thinking especially of Gentile believers here, but the prayer is suitable for all. And it is true that those who abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit have no time to quarrel over nonessentials. Our common hope is a powerful unifying force in the Christian life.

Rom 15:13  May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. The purpose of God is to enable a diverse people (of different ethics origin, ages, gender, upbringing)  to live peacefully together in the body of Christ. “Hope, joy, and peace” are ingredients needed in great measure by those whose commitment is to edifying those who are locked in conflict. These are the supernatural fruits ensued from the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of individuals, through faith and love.

Rom 14:17-18  For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,  because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval. Personal preferences (e.g. style of worship: Hill songs vs. Old hymns or personal choice of eschatology) are not that important and they are not the sum and substance of the kingdom of God. Only upright living, peace and joy in the sphere of the Holy Spirit are essentials of Christian fellowship and harmony. The Christian who serves Christ in the way of love, righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit is pleasing to God and approved by men.
