Pro 21:2 CSB  All a person’s ways seem right to him, but the LORD weighs hearts. A person may think nothing is wrong with his ways, but the Lord knows what is in his heart. “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart”. The Lord accurately evaluates one’s motives and tests them. God is sovereign and also omniscient.

Heb 3:15  As it is said: Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion. Now the writer concludes the personal application of Israel’s sad experience by repeating the words of Psa_95:7-8 : “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” This poignant appeal, once directed to Israel, is now directed to any who might be tempted to forsake the good news and return to the law.

Pro 16:1  The reflections of the heart belong to mankind, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. A person may make plans (placing things in order, like arranging soldiers in battle lines) in his heart but God guides what comes out of the heart in man’s words (the reply of the tongue). God in His sovereignty prevails over man. One’s heart and his speech are closely related.

John 3:19  This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. We love the darkness so that we can keep on doing what we want without exposure. In this condition, the mind becomes a factory of idols — a fountain of half-truths and lies — anything to protect the evil desires of the heart from exposure and destruction. Our hearts are deceitful. Examine our selves daily
