2Ch 16:9 CSB  For the eyes of the LORD roam throughout the earth to show himself strong for those who are wholeheartedly devoted to him. You have been foolish in this matter. Therefore, you will have wars from now on.” Even though God had chosen Israel as His elect nation, He has always been concerned about all His creation. Even though other nations as a whole have forgotten Him, worshiping various nature gods, there are evidently individuals in such nations whose hearts desire to know Him, and to these God will somehow reveal Himself. Act 10:35 CSB  “but in every nation the person who fears him and does what is right is acceptable to him.”

Psa 34:8-9 CSB  Taste and see that the LORD is good. How happy is the person who takes refuge in him!  (9)  You who are his holy ones, fear the LORD, for those who fear him lack nothing. Those who know the Savior long to share Him with others. Like the four lepers in Samaria, they say, “We are not doing right. This is a day of good news, and we are silent and do not speak up”. And so the evangel rings out, “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”

Pro 15:13 CSB  A joyful heart makes a face cheerful, but a sad heart produces a broken spirit. This refers to a happy heart. Inner joy shows on a person’s face, but inner grief depresses a person’s morale (crushes the spirit). Happiness and depression are issues of the heart. What a person is inwardly has more lasting impact on his emotional state than do his circumstances. Some people hold up under difficult circumstances better than others because of inner strength.

Psa 91:5-7 CSB  You will not fear the terror of the night, the arrow that flies by day,  (6)  the plague that stalks in darkness, or the pestilence that ravages at noon.  (7)  Though a thousand fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, the pestilence will not reach you. The psalmist, encouraging himself, expanded on the theme of the Lord’s protection from danger. He enumerated how God delivers a believer from various frightening attacks: (1) God delivers from the fowler’s snare, a figure for insidious attempts against his life. (2) God delivers from… deadly pestilence. (3) God covers him with His wings, a figure of safety and comfort. (4) God protects with His faithfulness, explained here by the metaphor of a shield and rampart. As a result of God’s help in these ways one who trusts in the Lord will not fear… terror at night, attack…

1Co 10:22  Shall we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than he? Not only that, it would not be possible to do this without provoking the Lord to jealousy. As William Kelly said, “Love cannot but be jealous of wandering affections, it would not be love if it did not resent unfaithfulness.” The Christian should fear to thus displease the Lord, or to provoke His righteous indignation. Do we think that we are stronger than He? That is, do we dare to grieve Him and risk an exhibition of His disciplinary judgment upon us?

Psa 27:1-3  Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom should I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—whom should I dread?  (2)  When evildoers came against me to devour my flesh, my foes and my enemies stumbled and fell.  (3)  Though an army deploys against me, my heart will not be afraid; though a war breaks out against me, I will still be confident. David expressed great confidence in the Lord: because the Lord was his Light… Salvation, and Stronghold, nobody could harm him. Light signifies understanding, joy, and life and the stronghold signifies defense. With these provisions from the Lord, whom shall a believer fear? Obviously the answer is no one.

1Co 4:9-13  For I think God has displayed us, the apostles, in last place, like men condemned to die: We have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to people.  (10)  We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored!  (11)  Up to the present hour we are both hungry and thirsty; we are poorly clothed, roughly treated, homeless;  (12)  we labor, working with our own hands. When we are reviled, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it;  (13)  when we are slandered, we respond graciously. Even now, we are like the scum of the earth, like everyone’s garbage. Paul was no fool. He did not like suffering. He wished they were right. But they weren’t. The apostles followed the path of Christ’s humiliation. As He marched a parade…

Psa 42:11  Why, my soul, are you so dejected? Why are you in such turmoil? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise him, my Savior and my God. But faith always has the last word. Don’t be discouraged. Don’t be unsettled. Hope in God; you will be delivered from your enemies and from your depression as well. And you’ll praise Him once again as your Savior and your God. As someone has said: The remedy—challenge depression, look up, hope. The Christian life is alertness, upward striving, activity, the running of a race. It is never downcast eyes, folded hands and the acceptance of defeat.

Pro 16:33  The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD.  The results of casting lots may seem like mere chance, but God controls even them.

1Jn 2:5  But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Obedience to God’s Word results in a rich and full experience of God’s love: God’s love is truly made complete in him. In John 14, an obedient disciple is promised a special experience of the love of the Father and Son. Since a Christian is already the object of God’s saving love, this additional, experiential realization of the divine affection may be properly said to make God’s love complete in him. That is to say, an obedient believer has a deep, full-orbed acquaintance with “God’s love.” Since God is love, to know God intimately is to know His love intimately.
